Player Registration
All players must join their team & pay competition fees (and be currently registered) via the online process before they can take the court for round 1. The team manager must ensure all players have joined their team prior to commencement of competition and follow up any players who have not joined. If players have not successfully joined their team prior to round 1 they may not be allowed to take the court until the online process has been completed.
Players in the senior competition must be sixteen years of age. Players under sixteen years may apply to the Board for an exemption to play in a senior team based on player ability, division nominating and parental written consent.
Refer to the BasketballConnect Member Registration instruction sheet.
Players Looking for a Team
Please email info@basketballwagga.net.au including name, date of birth, contact phone number and email address and which competition you are wanting to play in.
Scoring
All teams will require a bench scorer. If a scorer is not allocated at the start of the game the team may be penalised.
Courtside scoring will be used from Round 1 of competitions. This is iPad based and replaces the scoresheet. Again, it is imperative that each team supply at least one person to do scoring duties for their game.
Player & Coach Behaviour
In an effort to control inappropriate player behaviour we have implemented the following penalties for an accumulation of Technical Fouls during the season. Please read the below Code of Behaviour for players and coaches.
-
2 per year – Written Warning
-
4 per year – 2 playing week suspension
-
6 per year – 4 playing week suspension
-
8 per year – 8 playing week suspension
-
10 per year – Rest of Season suspension, plus next season suspension.
These penalties are separate to any penalties handed down by the Disciplinary Tribunal.
A player who receives a technical foul will be substituted out of the game for five (5) minutes and cannot be replaced by another player for the duration.
Tribunal
Any player, coach, team official or spectator may be cited and reported to appear before the tribunal if, in the opinion of a game official, referee supervisor, court supervisor or authorised representative of the Association, he/she:
-
has drawn the sport of Basketball into disrepute
-
has acted in a manner that is detrimental to the proper and efficient conduct, control or administration of Basketball by the Wagga Wagga Basketball Association
-
has contravened the by-laws, policies or guidelines of a governing body of the sport.
Any incident shall is required to be lodged on a Report Form, which must be given to the court supervisor, referee supervisor or Technical Director.
The Wagga Wagga Basketball Association adopted the NSW Basketball Association Disciplinary Tribunals By-Law in March 2017, which is binding on all members of the Association and other persons or organisations which submit themselves to the jurisdiction of the Association.
