WWBA Preparing to Introduce HoopsTV

21 Oct 2026

We are excited to announce that we are preparing to introduce automated game recording and streaming technology at our competitions, creating new opportunities for players, coaches, families and supporters to engage with basketball.

The initiative forms part of a national partnership between Basketball Australia and Pixellot to introduce HoopsTV, a dedicated basketball streaming platform designed to make community basketball more accessible across Australia.

What is Pixellot and HoopsTV?

Pixellot uses automated camera technology to record and stream basketball games without requiring a camera operator.

Through HoopsTV, the technology is expected to provide opportunities for:

  • Families and supporters to watch games remotely, particularly when they cannot attend in person.

  • Players to watch their games and review their performances.

  • Coaches to use game footage to support player and team development.

  • Our basketball community to showcase local competitions, representative programs and the achievements of our players.

The technology has the potential to be particularly valuable for families who travel regularly for basketball or have relatives living outside Wagga Wagga.

WWBA is working towards introducing the technology during the Autumn 2027 season.

Further information about which competitions will be covered, how members can access footage and any associated costs will be communicated before the system becomes operational.

Privacy, Child Safety and Player Protection

We recognise that privacy and child safety are important considerations when introducing technology that records and streams basketball games, particularly where children and young people are involved.

WWBA takes these concerns seriously and believes members should have clear information about how the technology operates, how footage is managed and what choices are available to them.

How does the recording system work?

Pixellot is designed to record scheduled basketball games rather than operate as a continuous CCTV or surveillance system.

The system is intended to capture basketball activity during scheduled games, with recordings managed through the associated platform.

Who can access game footage?

Game footage will be managed through the HoopsTV platform, subject to its applicable access arrangements and privacy settings.

WWBA will provide further information about how members can access footage, including any subscription requirements or restrictions, before the system commences operation.

What if a player or family does not want to be recorded?

We understand that some players and families may have personal, privacy or child safety reasons for not wanting footage recorded or made available through the platform.

HoopsTV provides information about opting out of recording and streaming, including a process for raising these concerns.

Members can review the available information through the HoopsTV website and its Frequently Asked Questions.

WWBA will work with Basketball Australia and Pixellot to clarify how these arrangements will operate within our local competitions before recording commences.

Our commitment to members

WWBA is committed to ensuring that the introduction of this technology is accompanied by appropriate privacy and child safety arrangements.

Before the system becomes operational, we will communicate further information about recording arrangements, member notification, access to footage and the process for raising privacy concerns.

We recognise that the benefits of the technology must be balanced with the privacy and safety of everyone participating in our competitions.

What Happens Next?

WWBA will continue working with Pixellot and PCYC Wagga Wagga to finalise installation and operational arrangements.

We will provide further updates to members before the system becomes operational, including details about game coverage, accessing HoopsTV and privacy arrangements.

We are excited about the opportunities this technology may provide for our basketball community and look forward to keeping members informed as the project progresses.
