Nominations open for the 2026 Club Awards
27 July 2026
Wagga Wagga Basketball Association is calling for nominations for the 2026 Club Awards, celebrating the coaches, referees and club contributors who have made an outstanding contribution to our junior and senior representative programs this season.
Nominations are open for:
🏀 Coach of the Year
🏅 Referee of the Year
🔥 Club Person of the Year
The awards will be assessed against the published criteria and are not decided by the number of nominations received. One thoughtful nomination with strong examples is worth far more than multiple nominations that simply provide a name. Current serving board members are ineligible for nomination.
🏀 Coach of the Year
Coach of the Year recognises a head coach or assistant coach from a Wagga Heat junior or senior representative team who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, player development, sportsmanship and commitment.
Nominations will be assessed on:
Leadership and creation of a positive team culture
Sportsmanship and conduct
Development of players
Support and respect for referees and officials
Preparation, reliability and professionalism
Team results may provide context but will not determine the winner. The award primarily recognises the coach’s behaviours, leadership, development of players and the way they represent Wagga Heat.
🏅 Referee of the Year
Referee of the Year recognises a representative referee who has demonstrated professionalism, commitment, development and a positive contribution to officiating.
To be eligible, a referee must have been available to officiate at a minimum of two Southern Junior League rounds during the 2026 representative season.
Nominations will be assessed on:
Professionalism and conduct
Commitment and reliability
Officiating performance and development
🔥 Club Person of the Year
Club Person of the Year recognises someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the Wagga Heat junior or senior representative program through their service, initiative and positive influence.
Nominations will be assessed on:
Contribution and service to the club
Willingness to go above and beyond
Positive influence on players, families, coaches and officials
Initiative and leadership
The practical impact of their contribution
Current WWBA Board members are not eligible for Club Person of the Year. Where a nominee holds a paid role, the assessment will focus on contributions beyond the normal requirements of that role.
