Team Registration

Each team requires a minimum of 7 players to register. Teams need to be nominated by the closing date to allow enough time to schedule comps.

2026 Age Groups (YOB)

  • Under 10 – 2017-2018

  • Under 12 – 2015-2016

  • Under 14 – 2013-2014

  • Under 16 – 2011-2012

  • Under 18 – 2009-2010

Please check which age group your team belongs in for the 2026 Spring season and all your players are in the correct age group before nominating.

Refer to our Competition Details page for the full schedule, including what nights we play.

Divisions

To ensure equity in our competitions, there will be a Division 1 and Division 2 in the following age groups, depending on how many nominations received:

  • Under 12 Boys

  • Under 14 Boys

  • Under 16 Boys

  • Under 18 Boys

Team contacts will be required to nominate a division when registering a team. Nominations will then be reviewed by the association who may amend a nomination based on a teams playing group and experience. Teams with 3 representative level players should play in the highest division, however this will be reviewed by the board on a case by case basis.

Player Registration

All players must join their team & pay competition fees (and be currently registered) via the online process before they can take the court for round 1. The team manager must ensure all players have joined their team prior to commencement of competition and follow up any players who have not joined. If players have not successfully joined their team prior to round 1 they may not be allowed to take the court until the online process has been completed.

Representative Players

To improve the general game, teams may only have a maximum of 3 representative players regardless of the association they represent (this includes representative players from other associations). From a Wagga perspective this includes players from both our Blue and Orange representative teams. This rule applies to both the Autumn and Spring seasons each year e.g if you participate in the 2026 Junior Rep program, you are counted as a rep player for the 2026 Autumn and Spring seasons

Player Looking for a Team

If you want to join a junior competition but don't have a team, please fill out the Expression of Interest form.

Blazing Hoops Program (Under 10 Girls)

Blazing Hoops is a fun and inclusive basketball program designed specifically for girls aged 7–9 who are new to the sport or just getting started. The 13-week program includes structured training over a number of weeks before starting a structured competition — all delivered in a supportive, team-focused environment.

There’s no program registration fee — the only cost is a valid Basketball NSW membership (refer to the table below)

The program will be coordinated by Wagga Basketball representative coaches, with support from a team of former female junior representative players, bringing both experience and inspiration to the court.

Team Responsibilities

Scoring

All teams will require a bench scorer. If a scorer is not allocated at the start of the game the team may be penalised.

BasketballConnect is used to score games which is iPad based. Again, it is imperative that each team supply at least one person to do scoring duties for their game.

Team Coach

All teams must have a coach. Coaches are to discuss all inquiries with the striped shirt referee at time outs or at half time. The Referee Supervisor, Court Supervisor or Junior Competition Director can be included in all enquiries to enhance referee knowledge and to improve the game. At no time are coaches, parents or bench officials to discuss the game with any of the green shirt referees. This may result in an automatic bench technical foul and or further administrative action.

Coaches (over the age of 18) are to supply a Working with Children Check Number (WWCC) to Wagga Wagga Basketball Association. A copy of the coaches WWCC is required to be submitted to the office by round 3 either by email – info@basketballwagga.net.au or screenshot to the WWBA mobile 0447663925 including coaches date of birth.

For more information and to apply for a Volunteer Working with Children Check (cost is free) please refer to www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au.
