🏀 Southern Junior League
The Waratah Southern Junior League (SJL) is the primary competition for WWBA's junior representative teams.
The competition brings together basketball associations from across southern NSW, providing opportunities for players to compete against similarly graded teams and experience representative basketball beyond their local competition.
WWBA expects to nominate teams across the Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 age groups, subject to selections and team availability.
The competition includes pre-season grading, regular competition rounds and finals, with teams travelling to different regional venues throughout the season.
🏆 Additional Tournaments and Representative Opportunities
In addition to the Southern Junior League, WWBA teams may participate in other tournaments and representative events as part of their development and preparation.
John Martin Country Tournament
South West Junior Classic
Albury Blitz and other regional tournaments
Waratah State Cup and State Championships, where teams qualify
Trial games, gala days and other approved development opportunities
Participation in additional tournaments will depend on each team's age group, division, development needs and availability. Coaches and team managers will communicate confirmed arrangements directly with families.
💪 Player Development and Team Commitment
Representative basketball provides opportunities for players to challenge themselves, develop their skills and experience a higher level of competition.
The program places a strong emphasis on individual improvement, teamwork, commitment, resilience and sportsmanship.
Players selected to represent WWBA are expected to participate positively in training, games and team activities, while demonstrating respect for teammates, coaches, referees, officials and opponents.
The success of our representative program relies on the combined efforts of players, families, coaches, team managers and volunteers.
💰 Program Fees and Family Information
Participation in junior representative basketball involves additional financial and time commitments beyond domestic basketball.
Program fees contribute towards the delivery of the representative program, including competition participation, training facilities, coaching support and administration.
Families should also consider travel, accommodation and other costs associated with representative basketball.
WWBA continues to support the program through sponsorship, fundraising and volunteer contributions to help keep representative basketball accessible.
Detailed information regarding program fees, payment arrangements, fundraising and other requirements will be provided directly to selected players and families.
All selected families will also receive the 2027 Junior Representative Program Handbook directly as part of the team acceptance process. It outlines the expectations and requirements associated with accepting a representative team position.
🥋 Uniforms
WWBA is currently going through a rebrand process and is working with suppliers on the new gear. In the meantime we have stock that is available from last season.
It is a full refresh so we are replacing on court as well as off court gear. More information will be abilable when selections are finalised.
📣 Communication Throughout the Season
WWBA will continue to provide updates throughout the representative season, including competition information, important announcements and Association news.
Families are encouraged to regularly check the WWBA website and follow our official communication channels.
Team-specific arrangements, including training, travel and additional tournament commitments, will be communicated directly by team coaches and managers.
