WWBA held its 2026 Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 29 October, with members considering the Association’s Annual Report, audited financial statements, Director elections and Life Membership nominations.

Director Elections

Following the AGM, the current WWBA Board is:

• Scott Gray

• Kate Hardy

• Rebecca Maloney

• Mel Pankhurst 

• Mel Risby

• Ben Colenso

Three Director positions remain vacant.

WWBA is keen to hear from members with a broad range of skills, experience and perspectives who may be interested in contributing to the governance and future direction of the Association.

In particular, the Board has an immediate need for someone with financial management, accounting or bookkeeping experience who would be willing to take on the role of Treasurer.

Anyone interested in discussing the Treasurer role or joining the Board is encouraged to contact the WWBA President at president@basketballwagga.net.au.

Life Membership

The AGM also considered two nominations for Life Membership.

Members unanimously supported the conferral of Life Membership on:

• Cathy Edwards

• Loren Roy

Life Membership is one of WWBA’s highest honours and recognises distinguished and longstanding service to basketball in Wagga Wagga.

Cathy and Loren have both made significant contributions to the Association over many years, and WWBA congratulates them on this well-deserved recognition.

Want to get involved without joining the board?

There are also plenty of ways to contribute to Wagga Basketball without becoming a Director.

WWBA is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from parents, players, coaches, officials, volunteers and supporters interested in contributing through committees, working groups, short-term projects or occasional volunteering.

Areas include domestic competitions, junior and senior representative basketball, referees, events, sponsorship, merchandise, communications, facilities and participation programs.
